Henning Groenda is department manager in the research division Software Engineering of FZI Forschungszentrum Informatik. Previously, he worked there as project manager and researcher. He is responsible for the research areas Software and Architecture Analysis as well as Mobile and Multi-Platform Development.

His work focusses on the design of software architectures and (early) quality assurance of software systems. This includes the design of new systems as well as the maintenance and extension of existing systems.

His research targets strengthening engineering principles in the development of heterogeneous software systems and their architecture. The key aspect is the analysis and assurance of quality across all layers of abstraction from the development process level to the architecture level to the implementation level. He focusses on quality metrics related to performance and maintainability, e.g. during system evolution and the integration of services from the Cloud, mobile IT devices or the internet of things.

He has a special interest in the application of architectural modeling, model-driven development, and domain-specific languages. All of his research aims at supporting software architects and developers.

Research Interests

  • Design and maintenance of heterogeneous software systems' architecture
  • Quality analysis, assurance and control with a special focus on performance and maintainability
  • Architectural modeling and reasoning
  • Model-driven development and domain-specific languages

The publications are listed on his personal publication page.
